About Us

Axis Dance is more than a studio—it’s a place where creativity, confidence, and connection take centre stage. We believe every child has a unique rhythm, and our mission is to help them discover it. With a wide range of programs across all major dance genres, we guide dancers from their very first plié to the thrill of live performance. Our supportive team, age-based curriculum, and inspiring culture ensure that every student thrives in their own time and style.

Where It all Began

Axis Dance was born in 2017 when founder Eliza Trent rented a church hall to teach just five kids every Saturday. With a speaker, a pile of scarves, and a heart full of dreams, Axis quickly grew into a creative home for young movers.

Word spread about Eliza’s ability to connect with kids, and before long, Axis Dance had outgrown its first three venues. Today, Axis welcomes over 250 students each week—and the spirit of those early Saturday mornings still lives in every class.

Our Journey

From a small weekend group to a full-service performing arts hub, Axis Dance has blossomed into a dynamic studio with a heart.

Along the way, we've introduced performance teams, hosted holiday workshops, collaborated with local schools, and even launched a podcast for dance parents! Through all the growth, we’ve stayed committed to one thing: building confident, expressive, and joyful kids through dance.

Our Values

At Axis Dance, our values guide every step, spin, and leap we take:

  • Confidence Through Creativity

We believe that every child has something unique to express. Our classes are designed to nurture self-belief through movement, music, and imagination.

  • Progress Over Perfection

We celebrate effort, growth, and individual journeys. Whether it’s a first plié or a stage performance, every step forward is a win.

  • Belonging for Every Body

Axis is a space where all dancers feel safe, seen, and supported—regardless of background, ability, or experience level.

  • Passion with Purpose

We dance with heart and intention. From studio to stage, we encourage our dancers to move with joy, respect, and responsibility.

Our Amazing Teachers

Miss Eliza Trent

Eliza Trent – Founder & Artistic Director

Eliza founded Axis Dance in 2017 with a mission to create a space where every child could feel seen, celebrated, and confident through dance. With over 15 years of experience as both a professional dancer and primary school educator, Eliza brings a rare combination of technical knowledge and child-centred teaching. Her classes are known for blending structure with imagination, and her mentorship style has helped dozens of students grow into expressive, empowered dancers. Eliza still teaches classes across all age groups, leads the choreography for the annual showcase, and can often be found cheering the loudest from the wings on performance day.

Miss Amara Blake

Preschool & Junior Specialist | Creative Ballet | Acro Basics | Imagination & Movement

Amara trained in classical ballet from the age of 4 and studied contemporary dance and choreography at university. She leads with warmth, precision, and patience—blending traditional ballet training with a love for lyrical storytelling. Leah is passionate about helping young dancers understand the “why” behind movement, not just the “how.” She runs pointe preparation, modern fusion classes, and Axis’s annual choreography workshop series. Her students describe her as calm, inspiring, and deeply tuned in to their progress and potential. Leah believes dance is as much about feeling as it is about form.

Miss Marina Cole

Lead Drama & Vocal Coach | Musical Theatre

| Voice Training | Stage Presence

Marina is the glue that holds Axis Dance together. A former dance mum herself, she knows what families need and goes above and beyond to deliver it. From managing enrolments and uniforms to answering questions with a smile and managing show day logistics like a pro, Marina keeps everything running smoothly. She’s the first face many parents and students meet, and she takes great pride in making sure everyone feels included and informed. Marina also helps coordinate Axis’s events and fundraisers, and is always thinking two steps ahead to keep the studio experience stress-free.

What our clients say…

“We couldn’t be happier with Twinkle Steps Academy. Our daughter joined when she was just four, and she’s flourished in every way — not just as a dancer, but as a confident, kind, and motivated little human! The variety of classes keeps her excited every week, and the growth we’ve seen in her is incredible.

There’s a real sense of community at TSA — it feels like one big family. The older dancers are so caring and supportive of the younger ones, especially during holiday workshops and performances. They’re like mini role models! Miss Grace and her team are not only talented and passionate teachers, but they genuinely love what they do — and it shows. They’ve created something truly special here.”

“My daughters have been dancing at Twinkle Steps Academy for over four years now, and they still look forward to every single class! Miss Grace has a magical way of connecting with the kids — classes are always fun, creative, and never overwhelming.

They’ve learned so much more than just dance technique — things like teamwork, discipline, and confidence have blossomed too. TSA isn’t just a place to dance... it’s a dance family, through and through!”

“Twinkle Steps Academy is such a gem — warm, welcoming, and wonderfully supportive. It truly feels like an extension of our family! The senior dancers are incredible role models for the younger students, and the whole studio just radiates positivity.

Miss Grace is not only a gifted teacher, she’s also an inspiring role model. Her passion for dance is contagious — whether it’s during weekly classes or the magic of showtime, she brings out the best in every dancer, big or small!”
